Halloween Mummy Cupcakes

Hello everyone,

Today, Tristan and Scarlett made these yummy Halloween Mummy Cupcakes!

Step 1. Make 12 vanilla sponge cupcakes

My recipe

3 eggs
150g caster sugar
150g self-raising flour
150g unsalted butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Cream the butter and sugar together until light and creamy.
Add the eggs, one at a time, beating the mixture together
Stir in the vanilla extract
Slowly add the flour, whilst gently mixing.
Add the mixture to 12 cupcake liners, and bake at 180C for 12-15 minutes
Once cooked, allow to cool for at least one hour before decorating them

Step 2. Prepare the decorations

What you need

White fondant
Chocolate frosting
Smarties
Black food colouring
Icing sugar

Add a layer of the frosting to each cupcake, then add two Smarties for the eyes
Roll out the fondant, using icing sugar and a rolling pin, to about 2mm thickness
Using a pizza cutter, cut out strips of fondant. These will be the mummy bandages
Carefully layer the "bandages" over the cupcake in a random fashion, but avoid covering the "eyes"
Add a speck of black food colouring to the centre of the "eyes"
Trim the overhanging fondant bandages using scissors

Done!

We also made some eyeballs as we had left over fondant
Simply made by rolling up the white fondant into a ball, and gluing on a Smartie with a
smidge of water
Finally, add detail using red and back food colouring using a fine paintbrush

All that's left to do is to gobble them up!

Thanks for reading Jelly Rose! Come say "hello" on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram!
