Oktoberfest Memories!

Yesterday was the start of Oktoberfest 2014 in Munich, Germany: the annual 16-day Bavarian beer festival that attracts approx 6 million visitors each year!

Back in 2008, when Lee and I were living in Bavaria, we joined in with the beer & Dirndl fun.

We visited several times over the 16 days. Here are the photos from the first drunken evening where we had a reserved area in the Hofbrauhaus tent with Lee's work colleagues! I even treated myself to a genuine Dirndl - which I still have in my wardrobe today.

We then had a follow-up trip to visit the outdoor areas during daylight hours, where there were lots of fun fair rides and food stalls. There were even roller-coasters set-up!

We adored our three-year stay in Munich, and enjoyed many beer festivals held in Germany. It's a great event that I believe everyone should experience at least once in their lifetime! It's fun, entertaining, and it's so friendly! Just remember that one stein of beer holds a whopping one litre of beer...which is roughly 1.7 pints!

Prost everyone!

If you are in Bristol, like me, the Bavarian Beerhouse on Queen Charlotte Street is holding an "Oktoberfest in Bristol" event from 30th September. Find out more HERE.
