Dru Yoga in Chipping Sodbury REVIEW

Namaste everyone,

I adore supporting local businesses, and I was thrilled to be contacted by Nazama who asked me to try out one of her Dru Yoga Classes to blog about to all you lovely lot!

Here I am about to head off to my first class with Nazama!
I wore a pair of 3/4 length black jogging trousers with a long white vest and an
oversized grey stripy cropped top (and Uggs to keep my toes warm on the car journey)

I was asked to wear loose fitting clothes, and bring a water bottle, yoga mat and blanket with me.

On arrival, my classmates and Nazama were very friendly, and warmly welcomed me into the class. They were very happy to me to take a front row position so I could see and mirror Nazama clearly during the session.

The class began with a quick introduction about Dru Yoga (which is described as a type of yoga that has free and fluid movements, with directed breathing), then Nazama got us started on warm-up style exercises to get our blood flowing throughout our entire bodies. The class was wonderfully paced: not too fast for a beginner like me, but not slow to irritate the regular attendees. My first class focused on the Warrier 1, 2 and 3 positions, and Nazama was excellent at guiding everyone through the positions, tweaking our stretches if needed.

The last ten minutes of the class was dedicated to true relaxation - and this is where the blanket is used! Everyone laid on their backs, snuggled in their blanket cocoon, while Nazama switched off the lights and turned on soothing music. Nazama then guided us into a relaxation state by asking us to tense then relax our muscles from toes to head. This was a delightful way to end a class!

I really enjoyed my class, and really felt stretched, positive and relaxed in myself. Thank you Nazama! This is a great way to experience yoga whatever your shape, age or size!
