Family Day at Caldicot Castle

Today, Family Howe joined my mum & dad and my neice Holly with a day trip to Caldicot Castle.

The castle is surrounded by 55 acres of country park, so there is lots to see and do, and the kiddiwinks can run around. Lots of picnic spots, or you can take advantage of their tea room. A cannon takes centre-stage in the castle courtyard which was great for Tristan to explore & look at. In one corner of the castle courtyard is a mini play area for children which includes a play house, 4-in-a-row garden game, giant chess, giant lego and a few other outdoor toys.

There is also a playground in the country park (opposite the car park), but with two toddlers desperate for their afternoon nap, we skipped it and headed home.

Tristan loved the cannon, the 4-in-a-row garden game, running around the castle courtyard with Scarlett & Holly, and going to the very top of the castle waving down below to Nanny & Grampy.

Scarlett loved eating our yummy picnic....my little piggy princess, lol

A fabulous family-friendly day out we all enjoyed.

The best bit is if you plan to visit, entry is FREE for the 2013 season! (Except for event days, so please check their website).

The minor issue is when exploring inside parts of the castle there are lots of steep uneven spiral staircases, so not very toddler nor pushchair friendly, so please be careful when visiting with young 'uns.
