My friends at The Nutrition Centre have kindly given me some Viridian L-Theanine & Lemon Balm capsules to try out as part of my New Year, New Me routine.
I don't talk much about it here on my blog, but for those who know me in real life, will agree when I say that I get bouts of anxiousness, especially with new situations, and in busy social situations. I am a worrier too, and can get stressed as big or important events start looming over me. I'm lucky to have a bunch of supportive friends (and a fantastically understanding hubby) who help.
The Nutrition Centre mentioned they have L-Theanine & Lemon Balm capsules available at their online story which can help calm people who feel anxious, stressed and strung-out. Each capsule contains 300mg of Lemon Balm (Melissa officialis) and 200mg of L-Theanine. The capsules nicely smell like green tea (which I think is from the L-Theanine element).
The directions say to take one capsule 1-2 times daily, so I started off with one capsule a day with my breakfast, but if I was feeling overly anxious, or an important event was coming up, I would take a second one before bed. I wasn't sure what to expect, but where I would normally feel slightly shaky with butterflies in my tummy, I felt quite calm! I have to say I'm impressed, and it's great to find a supplement that can help me without resorting to prescription drugs.
Something else I just have to mention is that when you return your empty bottle back to the health food store, you will receive a 25p refund AND the store with recycle your bottle!
