Brother Max Non-Contact Digital Thermometer REVIEW

Family Howe were very pleased to be asked to review the newly available (October 2013) Brother Max non-contact digital thermometer. We are quite familiar with the in-ear thermometers that are available on the market, so we were very keen to try out this new way of easily & quickly taking a forehead temperature without any skin contact.

It truly is contact-less: you aim the end at the forehead (no skin contact at all), about 2-5 cm away, press the button, and you get a reading in 1 second!

As well as a digital written reading in degree centigrade (accurate to 0.2), it lights up green, amber or red. Green indicates a normal temperature reading. The orange indicates a raised temperature, and the red a high temperature. This is a great feature, and such an easy way to immediately know the situation. This 3-colour alert light is my favourite feature as I'm always forgetting what a normal body temperature should be, so I can simply rely on the lights for easy reference.

Because there is no skin contact, this thermometer is perfect for those occasions where the infant or child is highly sensitive to being touched due to being ill. So you don't disturb the child, you can also mute the sound.

The memory feature holds the previous 19 readings so you can easily monitor the fever and see if the child's temperature is going up or down.

With a quick change of settings to the House symbol, you can also measure the ambient room temperature. This is a feature I've never seen on any other thermometer, and again, just point, click, and you get a room temperature reading!

Everything about this thermometer is simple: It's easy to use, easy to read, and is now an asset to our home's first aid box. It even comes ready to go with 2 x AAA batteries included.
