Twinkl REVIEW (Part 1)

Happy Tuesday friends,

We were generously given a platinum-level subscription to educational website Twinkl for Tristan and Scarlett to use and review!

Twinkl is an amazing website full of educational resources (in PDF and Word formats) to print and use at home. It has been perfect for educating Scarlett before she starts nursery, and supplementing Tristan's at-home learning after school.

The resources are split into three levels: Early years; Key Stage 1; Key Stage 2.

Early Years - perfect level for Scarlett

Key Stage 1 - perfect for Tristan as he's in Year One at school

Because of the 100's of themes listed on the website, we took inspiration from our day to find fun but educational worksheets to complete. After enjoying watching the 1971 film Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, I took advantage of the "Roald Dahl Day" section, and we explored the characters and the plot with Tristan. In school, Tristan was learning about the bones in our bodies, so I simply searched "bones" in the Twinkl search bar, and lots of relevant results showed. A great supplement to his classroom learning that day!

Using the Early Years section, I printed off a selection of alphabet, words and basic maths worksheets for Scarlett to complete ready for when she goes to nursery once she turns 3 in March.

One of things I highly recommend before starting your subscription, is having a printer easily available as almost all worksheets are best completed in paper. This is something we invested in at the start of our subscription.

We still have a few months of our subscription to use, so we will be doing a Part 2 blog review. Tristan will be starting to learn how to tell the time, and we'll be perfecting basic skills like writing with Scarlett.
