Beefeater REVIEW

Happy Sunday friends,

A few weeks ago, Family Howe were invited to go along to the Beefeater restaurant in Weston-super-Mare to try their new menu! As it's located near to the seaside, we made it a day trip and incorporated a visit to both Weston seafront, and Clevedon too (which you can watch on our vlog!)

"We're here!"

We found the restaurant easily as it's just off the main road as you approach Weston sea front from the motorway, and it's attached to a large free car park. We were warmly greeted on arrival by the front of house, and we were given the option of a booth or standard table. As we arrived a good ten minutes before our midday reservation, and they were still getting ready for the day (they open at 12pm), we were kindly asked to take a seat at the bar area while she finished getting the dining room ready. She also took this opportunity to give Tristan and Scarlett a children's activity booklet and crayons: perfect to keep them occupied during the short wait!

We were warmly greeted  on arrival, and the hostess kindly gave  Tristan and Scarlett
a little activity booklet with crayons to enjoy during our visit

After only a few minutes, she came and found us, and guided us to our table, and presented us with the menu (which looked fantastic, even at first sight!). We ordered drinks, and then were tempted by the freshly grilled tear & share flatbread while we perused the menu some more.

The standard menu was awash with delicious-sounding meals, mainly focusing on steaks and grilled items, including the '74 Signature (a lean and tender 8oz Tri-Tip steak), the Beefeater Mixed Grill (4oz flat iron steak, chicken breast, gammon steak and pork sausages), Triple Burger (1/4lb minced steak burger with pulled pork and beef rashers) and Sticky Bourbon BBQ Ribs. And there's a plethora of sauces that match perfectly with all the steak and meaty meals: triple peppercorn sauce, tarragon bearnaise, classic steak jus, and herby chimichurri.

Our waitress tempted us with this garlic flatbread to start our meal,
and it was delicious and oozing with garlic and parsley butter goodness

The children's activity booklets were fantastic at keeping Tristan and Scarlett (and Lee!)
occupied while we wait for our food to be cooked

For those tempted by something other than steak, grills and burgers, there are tasty alternatives such as Chicken, Bacon & Avocado Salad, Veg-Out Burger (see below) and Smoked Ham & Pea Risotto.

We were thoroughly impressed with the children's menu as it's varied with meals that parents want to feed their children! It's not often you find cottage pie, chargrilled chicken, steak burger or a Flat Iron steak on a children's menu. Tristan and Scarlett adore cheesy pasta, so they both selected the Macaroni Cheese, which comes with garlic bread and veggie sticks. Another great feature of the children's menu is that you can swap the sides of any children's meal: chips; basmati rice, garlic bread, peas, mash potato, corn on the cob, baked beans and veggie sticks.

And voila, here comes the food! Lee went with the 18oz Porterhouse Steak!

I went for the Veg-Out Burger, which is a Quorn burger with
Monterey Jack cheese, chargrilled peppers, salad, ranch dressing
and smokey tomato sauce: delicious!

Tristan and Scarlett both enjoyed their Macaroni Cheese which
comes with garlic bread and veggie sticks

Here's a close-up of my amazing burger which comes served with fries and coleslaw

As we had this amazing opportunity to try out the Beefeater menu, we couldn't say no to dessert! Tristan and Scarlett had a lovely choice of puddings, including fruit salad, ice cream sundae, jelly & ice cream. They both adore cookies, so the obvious choice was to select Carnival Cookies with Ice Cream!

The adults also had a great range of desserts to chose from....17 to be exact! There really is something for everyone: raspberry cheesecake, warm chocolate brownie, banoffee pie, sticky toffee pudding, lemon posset, and a variety of sundaes including chocolate & honeycomb and tropical sundae.

Next up is dessert! And Lee went with this Eton Mess Sundae
Vanilla ice cream, strawberry frozen yoghurt, with strawberries,
blackcurrant coulis. and crunchu meringue, finished with a
pile of cream and a wafer

As well as both choosing the Macaroni Cheese, Tristan and Scarlett
also chose the same dessert from the Mr Men & Little Miss Kids
menu...the carnival cookies and ice-cream

I finished my meal with a Costa Coffee latte

We had a lovely meal at The Pavilion, and we loved the menu, and when we next visit a Beefeater, there will be another meal to tempt us (I would love to try the Double Bacon & Cheese Steak Burger next!).

Thank you Beefeater!

You can find Beefeater at their website, Facebook and Twitter. Which item from the menu takes your fancy?

  2. The food looks great, love the hand going into the mac and cheese. I love a good family restaurant. I find the activity books keep the kids occupied much longer then just a sheet.
