My Car Step: The Little Step For Big Kids REVIEW

Hi everyone,

Today, I'm pleased to be sharing my review of a new product on the market, My Car Step from KIH Products. It's a step that quickly and securely slides under your child's car seat that enables them to independently climb into their own car seat.

Their website states that it's compatible with all group one car seats, and suitable for children weighing between 9 and 18 kgs (approx 9 months to 4 years old).

It was truly simple and quick to install. As Scarlett's car seat (a Maxi Cosi Tobi) is already installed, all we had to do was slide the My Car Step underneath her car seat. The weight of the car seat and the impact of the seatbelt made the My Car Step secure and locked into place.

Just need to slide the My Car Step in between the child's car seat and the main seat...

A quick safety wiggle...and it's securely installed in under one minute!

Almost there...

Voila! One independent and proud girl!

I was impressed by how ingenious this simple item was! It's a sleek piece of sturdy plastic that does exactly what it needs to do in an elegant manner. One of the design features I love is the carry handle - that way when Nanny & Grandpop look after Tristan and Scarlett, they too can use the My Car Step for their car. The ridges on the step plate are a great feature too - they provide good grip for when Scarlett is climbing up and down.

It's easy to clean too (especially after a sandy beach trip, or muddy woodland walk) as it's one piece of plastic. Just quickly take it out, run under the outdoor water tap, allow to dry naturally, and done.

After only being told briefly what it was, Scarlett was able to climb up without assistance at the first attempt. Very intuitive design!

Scarlett, at 2.5 years old, is perfect for the My Car Step. She's constantly saying how she wants to do everything all by herself, and this is another key in giving her a pinch of independence. The My Car Step would be perfect for mums who have back issues or are heavily pregnant, or even childminders and grandparents who would relish this strength-saving device.

They are proud to state that My Car Step is manufactured right here in the UK.

  3. Great idea not sure worth £35 though. It is moulded plastic cost pittance to make! You could put ikea step in footwell for same result £30 cheaper.
