Melted Snowman Cookies DIY

Hi everyone,

Only two sleeps to go until Christmas Day - how exciting!

I attempted to make the latest baking fad: melted snowman cookies! Not 100% successful, but here is a little photo diary of my latest DIY! Enjoy xxx

I cheated and used a box of cookie mix (feel free to make your own cookies), and you'll also need white marshmallows, writing icing (in black, orange and other bright colours), white chocolate, and other decorating items

I followed the directions on the back of the box. For my cookie mix, I just needed to add water, oil and an egg

Here I am mixing the cookie mix ingredients together.....

....until it forms a stiff dough

I popped them on a silicone baking tray and baked them

Once a golden brown colour, I took them out of the oven and left them to cool for over an  hour on a rack

I gently melted the white chocolate in a microwave (literally 20 seconds, stir, 20 seconds, stir etc).
This white chocolate was added to the top of each cookie and represents the melted snowman body!
***If you are not a fan of white chocolate, you can easily substitute it for plain white icing***

To create the droopy snowman heads I placed marshmallows onto a ceramic saucer then into the microwave for no more than 10 seconds. Then, with a oiled teaspoon, I carefully lifted each marshmallow from the plate onto each cookie

I then used a black writing icing pen to draw on the coal eyes, mouth & buttons, then the bright coloured icing for the scarf.

Don't forget to add a carrot nose from orange icing, and you can even use black fondant to create little hats!
