Tristan, Scarlett and I enjoyed a few hours at our local urban beach earlier in the week, with my lovely friend (and fellow blogger) Jess, and her son, James.

Our urban beach (basically a massive sandpit) is at our local shopping centre, and only a 10 minute walk from our home, so it's great (and free!) for those lazy summer days when you want to do something a bit different to entertain the kiddiwinks.
These urban beaches are popping up everywhere - both Cardiff & Bristol city centres have them, and other towns and cities across Britain. Do you have one near you?
Our beach and shopping centre also run lots of free family-friendly events too! This summer there has been a treasure hunt, Punch & Judy shows, sand sculpting and a bouncy castle day....and later this month there will be a Meet Peppa Pig day, and an End of Summer Party.

I haven't seen one of these yet (other than your photos here) but it's a great idea! What a wonderful way to bring the beach experience to places that wouldn't normally experience it.
ReplyDeleteWe live so close to the beach that I forget most people don't have access like we do. This is SUCH a cool idea! And I am assuming it's less dangerous as well.
ReplyDelete(FYI: I love Tesco. I live in America, and worked for Fresh & Easy, which is owned by Tesco. Loove. I wish they'd come here!)
I wish we had something like this where I lived. I would love to take my grandchildren to something like this. It looks like you had a lovely day.
ReplyDeleteThat is such a cool idea. They don't do anything like this where we live right now and I wish they would since there is no beach close by. We're visiting London next year summer and would love to be able to do this. :)
ReplyDeleteWe don't have anything like that where I live but we do have a huge lake so I guess they think they can play in the sand there. It looks like a lot of fun though and is a great concept.
ReplyDeleteThese are great and I love the "I love mum" shirt. :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen any of these yet, but I have to say, that's pretty cool! I really don't like sand though and if I were to go to the beach I would just go to the actual beach, ahahhaa. But I really hate sand! LOL I always have. However, thats a pretty cool idea! never heard of it before except for a back yard! Looks like the kiddies had fun and thats all that counts right!
ReplyDeletelove the pictures
ReplyDeleteNo big sand area but we do have a water park near the house the boys can go too. Pretty much when they want too. I love the layout of your blog all the colors. I found you from the monday mingle have a great day.
ReplyDeleteThank you to everyone who commented! It is most appreciated! :-D
ReplyDeleteIs it not a common "thing" in America? These giant sandpits have been a summer set-up for at least 2 years in the UK. Maybe we could start a trend together, and get it over in America!
